Wild Spaces

Inclusive - Confident - Informed

Wild Spaces is a curated, outdoor safe space for small groups of adolescents and young adults to talk openly and honestly about current issues and difficulties, and how to navigate life safely.

Wild Spaces is a new programme offered by New Wave Wild Project for 2024. We have worked with clients presenting with a range of profiles and difficulties over the past 5 years, and while some young people need their individual therapy space, common themes and challenges emerge in the lives of young people. Through Wild Spaces sessions, young people come together to acknowledge and discuss difficulties, voice concerns, and develop an understanding and strategy for dealing with adversity towards a meaningful impact.

Wild Spaces is a small group setting that is facilitated by adventure therapists whose approach is evidence-based and trauma-informed, combining professional practice in social work. psychology, integrative psychotherapy, CBT (REBT), and experiential education.

Wild Spaces sessions aim to be responsive to the needs and challenges that are most important to the participants. Themes are elicited from the group and these might include;

  • Self-care for bodies and minds

  • Identity & self-confidence

  • LGBTQI+ experiences and allyship

  • Rewriting your future

  • Healthy relationships, sex, & consent

  • Exploring ‘masculinity’
